Just a few problems with Silver

We have had only a few MAJOR problems with Silver

But when they did occured they were significant !

Those in 2001 are presented here with the latest incident shown first.

Serious Side Wall Failure Mam That will be $450 please
November 2, 2001 - While driving in the desert between Kingman, AZ and Needles, CA Lynne heard a thump - thump!
The inside rear passenger-side tire had failed. With the help of numerous calls on our cell phone we were successful
in having a new tire delivered to the "middle of nowhere". This proved to be an expensive "side-wall failure."

September 28, 2001 - While entering Interstate 80 in Omaha, NE we heard a loud "BANG" and suffered a loss of air pressure and forward motion!. The universal joint, where the drive shaft connects to the differential, had failed. The drive shaft then dropped to the pavement, pole-vaulting the transmission off the engine! Here you see the transmission being chained up (compare the size of the man to the transmission!) in order that the coach can be towed to the Allison repair facility.

The forces were great enough to destroy all the casings and crack the drive shaft.

It is tow time. Due to some confusion as to where we were going, it was a long trip.

Stan, at Detroit Diesel, had never seen anything like it. Doesn't look as though Lynne understands it, either.

Four weeks and two 1,700 mile auto trips later, we have a new transmission and pick up the coach in Omaha.

February 26, 2001 - As we were about to start a trip, Silver would not move. Her brakes had rusted in the "full-on" position. With the help of a big tug from a large tow truck she was was ready to go.
