In May 2005 we pay a brief visit to Pinnacles National Monument in California.

The "Pinnacles" are spires and crags that are the remains of an ancient volcano on the San Andreas Rift Zone.

Here is the beginning of the "Balconies" trail.

There are great hiking trails in the monument. Indeed, the East and West entrances are connected only by various trails.
