On this trip the weather was often wet and windy (note raincoat), but the scenery always spectatular
Here in Zion National Park at the "Watchman" campground (the name of the peaks) is our coach
We, of course, drove the Zion tunnel road from the floor of Zion Canyon up precipitious ledges,
through the tunnel and slot canyons to the east side. The drive has many lovely rock structures
It was late in the year and most of the trees had changed color and
the threatening skies often added drama to the texture of the rock faces
We visited Coral Pink Sand Dunes State (Utah) Park with its fine, salmon-colored, crescent-shaped dunes
The park certainly has become much more developed since our last visit in 1999
A visit to "Winsor Castle" and associated ranch at Pipe Springs National Monument. This is a very interesting park focused
on the clash of three cultures: the Kaibab Paiute Indians, The Mormons, and the US Federal Government with east coast values
We drove through the Kaibab National Forest to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon
It was almost totally deserted - reminding one of a science fiction movie where all the people disappear
Glen Canyon Dam (with very low water levels) and a desert drive by the Vermilion Cliffs and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument
